Daniel Pink Motivation
I did not actually try the candle problem but as he began I thought how I would try and my idea was make a way to connect matches and thumb tacks to make a shelf or seat. I as many other people in America had the Idea that if I beat him to the punch id be the winner. Over looking the most simple of ideas that a box was already present. I agree with Pink on his ideas on motivation. The child who gets 20 dollars for each A , 10 for each B and 5 for each C, does well but the child who enjoys learning will get all A's because they want mastery of the subject, and do to well. The candle problem shows our resistance to change because everyone thinks we will just make the reward higher, creating better performance. His claims are based in science; proof of that is the candle experiment itself, along with companies using these methods with success. Historical references including Google and finally studies done in America and England that come to the same conclusion. PY121 5W1 Connor L.
